Jim and Laura Emery have owned Emery Point since 1989, and are only the second known owners of the property. Over the years, they transformed what was a dilapidated mid-century farmhouse into what is now a Lake Anna icon - the Emery Point peninsula.
Jim - a contractor and business-owner - and Laura - an artist and entrepreneur - designed and built Emery Point almost entirely on their own, and with the help of friends. Laura's art can be seen and appreciated throughout the house. The Emery's 2 daughters enjoyed growing up visiting the lakehouse in the summers, where family reunions and parties were frequently hosted.
Lake Anna is a human-made lake that was filled in 1972 to provide cooling water for the North Anna nuclear power station. Previously, the surrounding area was covered with farmland; primarily for growing tobacco. The area is also known for its historical relevance during the Civil War, where many battles took place. Today's Lake Anna landscape is a stark contrast from its battle-scarred, agricultural past.
